About us

The MUCAIN Association (Museum of the Carrera de Indias) was founded with the mission of promoting, preserving, and sharing the richness of cultural heritage by fostering activities and events that enhance the artistic and creative landscape of our community. This organisation stands as a beacon of creativity and knowledge, bridging the gap between the past and the present to inspire a more inclusive and enriched future.

Our core mission is to strengthen the social fabric through culture, creating a solid bridge between the community and society. We develop innovative projects that engage people of all ages and backgrounds, aiming to enrich cultural and educational life. We are committed to ensuring that cultural and artistic heritage is accessible to all, fostering the holistic development of a fairer and more socially engaged society.

From the Association, we develop a series of projects aimed at showcasing and highlighting a pivotal chapter in Spain’s history, centred around the global significance of the historic milestone that was the Carrera de Indias. We design and organise conferences, exhibitions, panel discussions, cultural events, and activities open to the general public, fostering reading, objective analysis, and, above all, creative thinking as essential tools for connecting the past with the present.

One of the flagship projects of the MUCAIN Association is this website—an immersive and interactive virtual museum available 24/7. It is a space where visitors can delve into enriching content, explore unique audiovisuals brimming with valuable information, and experience a platform where culture takes centre stage.

Strategic Plan and Objectives:

  • To promote, share, and shed light on a vital yet often overlooked chapter of the history and geography of Spain and Latin America.
  • To research, analyse, and study long-forgotten documents stored in institutional archives, uncovering their historical significance.
  • To astonish the world with 21st-century discoveries, reshaping our understanding of the past and its influence on the present.

All the authors at MUCAIN form an exceptional team, where their knowledge, experience, and, above all, their talent make this museum an international benchmark. Through their work, the world gains insight into a chapter of history that goes beyond the Hispanic world to become part of Universal History.

A team and a museum that are alive, constantly growing and evolving thanks to the dedication, effort, passion, and financial support of its members, institutions, companies, and anonymous contributors—all for the common good and the cultural enrichment of us all.
