MUCAIN and the Real de a Ocho
MUCAIN and “El Real de a Ocho” Madrid 2025 is establishing itself as a key meeting point for numismatists from Spain and around the world.
The Logbook
In this famous notebook, sailors used to write about their day-to-day lives, later storing it in the logbook of the galleons to protect its contents from loss or destruction. Today, we can enjoy ancestral knowledge thanks to the texts hidden between its pages, marked with ink that recorded all the experiences, lives, and adventures encountered on each voyage.
One of the most famous logbooks in history is that of Christopher Columbus’s 1492 voyage, when he discovered America. However, the original logbook was lost, and what we know today is a version transcribed by Bartolomé de las Casas.
Thanks to this Logbook, the captain of MUCAIN will write his Navigation Diary, detailing the journey to carry forward this great project of a Museum of the Carrera de Indias.

En este famoso cuaderno, los navegantes solÃan escribir su dÃa a dÃa para después guardar el mismo en la bitácora de los galeones con el fin de salvar el contenido de su pérdida o destrucción. Hoy en dÃa podemos disfrutar de un conocimiento ancestral gracias a los textos escondidos entre sus páginas marcadas con tinta que contaba todas las experiencias, vivencias y aventuras acontecidas en cada viaje.
Gracias a este Cuaderno de Bitácora, el capitán del MUCAIN podrá escribir su Diario de Navegación, con todos los detalles para llevar adelante este gran proyecto de un Museo de la Carrera de Indias.
En el MUCAIN, también encontrarás en este cuaderno muchas aventuras, conocimiento y sobre todo la ilusión y motivación de este viaje.
