Jerry Zamora is the artistic name of Juan Carlos Zamora Pineda.
He began his career in the attic of his family home in Madrid’s Rastro neighbourhood, a space granted to him by his grandfather Alfredo. It was adjacent to their home and shared with a painter from La Mancha, Ángel Jurado Montes, who also had his studio there. Under Jurado’s guidance, Jerry learned to stain canvases and mix colours. With Ángel Jurado as his mentor, he mastered oil painting techniques. After school, Jerry would spend hours by his side, having his drawings corrected and honing his craft by preparing countless still-life backgrounds – canvases that Jurado would later embellish with his skilled brushwork. Jurado was one of those many underappreciated yet brilliant painters of his time who earned their living through serial artwork.
Jerry later enrolled at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios in Madrid, but he remained closely attached to his childhood mentor until his military service.
After a long journey through painting, comics, and sculpture, he founded an art workshop school in the late 1980s. In the 1990s, he left this venture to move to the United States, where he began working as a set designer and art director. Since then, he has balanced painting with scenography, creativity, and design.
For over 25 years, he has directed and owned several companies in the creative and theatrical sectors. He has designed and produced numerous leisure projects, stage designs, and themed installations for events and productions across film, theatre, and theme parks. His work includes attraction design and production staging.
Currently, he is a partner and Creative Director at ARTE A BABOR Producciones Artísticas.
In 2021-2022, he became the Art Director of Malinche, a production by Nacho Cano.
